The Central Kowloon Trunk Road (CKT) is a 4.7-kilometre dual three-lane carriageway comprising approximately 3.9 kilometres of tunnels connecting the Yau Ma Tei Interchange in West Kowloon, the Kai Tak Development in East Kowloon and the Kowloon Bay Road network as an arterial road spanning across Central Kowloon. SCLab provided network coverage for the project, which provided the basis for the introduction of a number of innovative construction techniques.

Through the implementation of ‘Construction 2.0’, CIC has been promoting the concepts of ‘innovation’, ‘professionalism’ and ‘revitalisation’ of the construction industry, thereby improving site safety and reducing environmental impacts. The Central Kowloon Route project has actively introduced a number of innovative construction technologies, such as the Central Management Platform (CMP) and the Intelligent Overheight Vehicle Detection System. However, the construction of the CKR project is extensive and involves a lot of underground work. As a result, the smooth application of these technologies is based on high-speed, stable and private network coverage, and SCLab has deployed a Wi-Fi backbone network for the CKR. SCLab extended network coverage to underground tunnels for seamless communication for surface and underground work.
Landlink wireless base stations were full wireless deployed, which enabled instantaneous use of the power on, flexible deployment in accordance with thesite environment and building progress, full-area network coverage that is available 7 days a week, around-the-clock, highly accurate positioning, and other fundamental services.

The equipment established a dedicated network, independent of nearby networks, guaranteeing the availability of over 200M of bandwidth to reliably support all operational scenarios at construction sites.

What types of devices are allowed to be interfaced to the Landlink network?
The wireless base station allows access to all devices that support the IP protocol, including cameras, gas detectors, road gates, face recognition machines, and so on. By interface type port, devices can be roughly classified into three categories: devices with one network cable connector and one power connector, devices with only one network cable connector, and devices with 485 connectors.
For devices with one network cable connector and one power connector, the power connector is connected to the common power system in the tunnel through a power adapter, while the network cable connector is connected to the body network port of the wireless base drill and the network port of the POE switch.
